If you’re expecting an excuse, then here it is: I’ve been flat out with a few things. I’ve mainly been involved with the fundraising for the Australian Uni Games (that I’m not even going to), and I’ve been fairly busy at work. Also, I’m sitting an MCP exam next week, but I can’t really use that as an excuse because I only really started studying last night.

And speaking of the MCP exam (Microsoft Certified Professional – exam 70-315 – look it up if you’re interested), I’ll be heading to Sydney next week for Microsoft Tech.Ed. Hopefully that’ll provide me with tons of info on upcoming MS technologies and how to use the current ones better. This will be the first year I’ve gone alone though, so I expect to be all lonely… maybe I can (God forbid) socialize with the geeks… scary…

I’ll try to post a bit while I’m down there about what’s going on and what’s been exciting me.

If you’re a personal friend of mine, firstly why are you reading this?, and secondly keep an eye out on the QUT Volleyball site for information on the second installation of the QUT Zoolander Walkoff, appropriately titled, “QUT Zoolander Walkoff 2: Derelicte”. If you could make it along to help out with tour costs and generally to have a laugh at the idiots who are walking (myself included), that’d be great!

The QUT teams did as well as they possibly could. Our two mens teams played each other for gold, and the women beat UQ to win their comp. It’s a shame there weren’t more quality teams there, but that’s what happens when you strip money from the unions by introducing VSU…

I can’t be bothered getting all political about that, but needless to say, I’m not happy about the fact that NUGs is now gone because of VSU.

Anyway, I’m back to work now, and I’m sure my liver is appreciative of the break.

And like all good hypocrites, I can justify my situation and differentiate it from all those people I openly abused for suddenly becoming huge fans of teams or people that play sports they don’t understand.

Here goes:

• Australia making the second round finals in the Soccer World Cup is a much, much bigger achievement than say, the Brisbane Lions winning a few premierships, or Nat and Kerri winning gold at the Olympics. This is a sport that is played in every freaking country in the world.
  I mean, Australia has never even looked like they should be there. We’ve only made it to the finals once before and we didn’t score a single point. Suddenly, we’re in the top 16 and looking pretty good!
• I’ve never said I didn’t like soccer… hell, I even played it when I was a bit younger. And all my complaints about the sport (mainly to do with the acting component) still stand, so it’s not as if I’ve reversed any decision…
• … I’m sure there’s more reasons I’m right this time and I was still right when I was on my high-horse…

So fine, I’m a hypocrite. I can live with that. Please address abuse to the comments section of this post…
